LCI Receives CMMI® Level 3 Rating
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - Leader Communications, Incorporated (LCI)
has received Capability Maturity Model Integration® (CMMI®)
Level 3 Rating. LCI has been rated as a CMMI® (v1.2) Level
3 organization as a result of its SCAMPI A appraisal conducted by an
SEI-approved Partner Organization. LCI is an ISO 9001:2000 certified,
Small Disadvantaged, Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned, Small Business
Administration certified 8(a) IT and management services firm.
"Our rating says LCI does software and system development right,"
Angela Cole, Vice President of Business Services, said.
Cole said this rating is yet another externally evaluated and
formally registered example of LCI's unwavering commitment to
systematic and process-oriented methodologies. Like LCI's ISO
9001:2000 registered Quality Management System, this demonstrates
that our processes and systems give our customers consistent and
high quality results, she said. Many Government contracts for
software/system development require companies to have a CMMI® Level
2 or higher to bid the work.
LCI is the only Oklahoma-headquartered company with a CMMI® Level
3 Rating, based on the published appraisal results published by
the Software Engineering Institute website.
LCI's rating allows LCI to bid on contracts that require a Level
3 rating. Additionally, this rating demonstrates to all of LCI's
customers that we develop software using a consistent, repeatable
process that provides the customer with what they request, on
schedule, documented, and fully tested, said Rick Hunter, LCI
Lead Software Developer.
"This process was started 9 months ago, creating new documented
policies, processes, templates, and training material," Hunter said.
LCI's processes make software development much more efficient because
the customer approves what is being designed and developed prior to
any actual design or development work, Hunter said. This prevents a
lot of reworking of the design due to changes. The processes also
require comprehensive testing of the product before it is delivered.
This testing ensures that the products will be delivered with a very
minimal risk of the users seeing any errors, Hunter said.
"Now that we have this rating, it does not mean we are done,"
Hunter said. "These processes are continually refined and improved
based on the results of previous projects."
