LCI Honored for Diversity Business Awards
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - Leader Communications, Incorporated (LCI)
received seven diversity business awards in 2006. LCI is an
ISO 9001:2000 certified, Small Disadvantaged, Service-Disabled
Veteran-Owned, Small Business Administration (SBA) 8(a)
certified Information Technology (IT) and Management Services
firm. DiversityBusiness.com Multicultural e-Business Solutions
is the nation's primary resource portal for small businesses and
large organizational buyers, according to their web site.
Mike Lyles, CEO/President of LCI, said winning the Diversity
Business Awards gives LCI good recognition and a ranking that
LCI tries to improve upon each year.
"We would like to be in the top 25% nationally in the next
few years," Lyles said.
In years past, LCI has received numerous Diversity Business
awards. In 2006, LCI received the following awards:
-
#24 on list of Top 100 8(a) Businesses
-
#243 on list of Top 500 Diversity Owned Businesses
-
#249 on list of Top 500 Small Businesses
-
#5 on list of Top Disabled Veteran Owned Businesses
-
#41 on list of Top African American Owned Businesses
-
#7 on list of Top Diversity Owned Businesses in Oklahoma
-
#3 on list of Top Small Businesses in Oklahoma
Pam Smith, LCI Human Resource Director, said one key theme
prevalent throughout LCI is its dedication to diversity.
LCI is diverse in gender and ethnicity, and to further its
commitment to diversity, they provide domestic partner benefits.
"Our diverse atmosphere and unique employee benefits help us
employ the best people to make LCI the best company," Smith said.
LCI is very committed to diversity through its selection of
teaming partners, mentoring programs, recruiting efforts,
community outreach, and scholarships to minority students at
a Historically Black College and University at Langston University
in Oklahoma and Texas Woman's University, Smith said. LCI's upper
level of corporate management is reflective of its commitment to
diversity, and includes three women, three people of color,
veterans and a wide and varied range of professional backgrounds.
"You can't say you support diversity as a company without making
it a reality, and our Affirmative Action numbers and diverse
employee population speak to the reality," Smith said.
According to their website, DiversityBusiness.com is a
membership-based exchange platform for businesses to communicate,
make contacts, streamline their business processes, and it provides
news and information to businesses. They provide resources, tools,
and awards, and are a resource for small businesses and large
organizational buyers.
Diversity Awards are important because they show the growth and
business size rankings of a company, and draw attention to diverse
businesses, Lyles said. LCI is very diverse with over 50% women
employees and over 10% veteran employees, but wants to target
recruiting for minorities to increase LCI's percentages, he said.
"Our goal is to become a company that people talk about wanting
to work for," Lyles said.
