LCI Receives ISO 9001:2000 Certification!
Oklahoma City, OK, December 20, 2005 - BSI, Inc., a member of the BSI
Group and the global leader in management systems registration, today
recommended LCI be granted ISO 9001:2000 registration to LCI headquarters.
This milestone emphasizes LCI's continued commitment to providing its
customer base with products, services and solutions of the highest quality
standards and at the best price. This evaluation culminates LCI President
and CEO, Mike Lyles' initiative to formalize and certify the company's
continuous improvement efforts that have been the foundation to LCI's success.
Mr. Lyles' foresight anticipated the trend toward ISO 9001-2000 becoming a
key requirement for certain contract opportunities within the government.
An extreme rarity for such a young company, Mr. Lyles committed the resources
necessary to achieve this significant milestone. Oliver "Sam" Sammons led the
LCI team in developing all the critical manuals, work instructions, forms,
and records. More importantly, Mr. Sammons galvanized the team's focus on
the formalization of LCI's quality management system even when our attention
was often pulled hard toward the day-to-day efforts expanding the company,
winning new contracts, pleasing customers, and taking care of our LCI family.
Sam's patience and perseverance were critical in LCI achieving this recognition.
The ISO 9000:2000 family of standards is an internationally recognized quality
management system standard developed by the International Organization for
Standardization (ISO). ISO 9001:2000 is process-based and enables organizations
to link business objectives with business effectiveness more directly.
To be certified to the standard, companies must implement a Quality Management
System (QMS) that accounts for a range of company activities, including staff
training; customer interaction; meeting customer requirements; purchasing
materials and services; and delivering products and services. This is done
using Plan-Do-Check-Act principles and Process Management, which outlines the
steps taken to provide customers the products and services pledged by the
company. Certification to ISO 9001:2000 is a proof point to customers,
through an independent third-party, that LCI operates a QMS in accordance with
the standard.
LCI began its focus on establishing a formal quality management system in
2003, shortly after our employee base reached 250 employees. As part of the
registration process, BSI performed on-site assessments; examined LCI's
documented procedures; and audited its overall operations. To ensure
continued compliance with ISO 9001:2000 and to provide feedback internally
on process effectiveness, LCI's corporate business operations will be
periodically assessed by BSI, Inc., through routine surveillance audits.
